Garmin has introduced the fēnix 9 and fēnix 9 Pro multisport GPS smartwatches, adding brighter Amoled displays, improved navigation, expanded endurance tracking, and a feature that combines multiple recorded activities into a single story.
The fēnix 9 will be available beginning Sept. 16 for a starting price of P62,690, while the fēnix 9 Pro will start at P72,690. Pre-orders will run from Aug. 27 to Sept. 10 at Garmin Brand Stores, Garmin Specialty Stores, and Kinetic.
Both models introduce Garmin Epic, a feature in the Garmin Connect app that lets users group activities recorded over several days, weeks, or months. Users can view health and performance data from the selected period, add photos, and share the compilation with others.
The watches also add stamina zones and a stamina curve, which track changes in endurance based on a user’s fitness gains and training history. Garmin said these metrics are designed to help athletes manage their pace during an activity.
“fēnix 9 and fēnix 9 Pro are purpose-built for those who want to perform better and venture farther,” said Susan Lyman, Garmin vice president of consumer sales and marketing.
“Athletes can better understand endurance gains and train smarter with advanced stamina metrics, while superior navigation tools help adventurers stay confidently on course. And with the new Garmin Epic feature, activities are turned into stories for users to relive. With these fēnix smartwatches on their wrist, our customers can redefine what they thought possible.”
The fēnix 9 uses an Amoled display that Garmin said is twice as bright as the screen on its predecessor. It also has a sapphire lens, leakproof buttons, and a dive rating of up to 40 meters.
For navigation, the watch comes with routable maps and an updated map engine. Garmin said the device has 50% more RAM than the fēnix 8, allowing map panning speeds to improve by as much as 30%. A new perspective view displays more detail about the route ahead.
Its 64 GB of storage can hold twice as many downloaded maps as the fēnix 8 and up to 7,000 songs. The standard model will be offered in 43mm, 47mm, and 51mm sizes.
Garmin has also expanded the device’s indoor rowing features to include VO2 Max and power-curve measurements when paired with a rowing machine equipped with a power meter.
New rucking functions allow users to change their recorded pack weight while an activity is underway, access GORUCK workouts from the watch, and set performance targets using pack weights of up to 100 kilograms.
The fēnix 9 Pro builds on these features with Garmin’s first titanium watch case for the series. Its Amoled displays reach up to 3,000 nits of brightness.
The 51mm Pro model has a 1.5-inch Amoled display, which Garmin said is 15% larger than that of the comparable fēnix 8 without increasing the case size. The Pro lineup also adds a green mode to its integrated LED flashlight to help preserve night vision.
The largest fēnix 9 model offers up to 29 days of battery life in smartwatch mode, while the largest Amoled version of the fēnix 9 Pro lasts up to 31 days.
Garmin said select Pro models with solar charging can run for up to 57 days, based on all-day use and three hours of daily outdoor exposure under 50,000-lux conditions.
