The Electric Vehicle Association of the Philippines (EVAP) has called for the expansion of charging infrastructure beyond major urban centers, saying wider coverage is needed to make electric vehicles practical for motorists and businesses nationwide.
The Ayala-owned firm said that Philippine EV Spine Network is an ambitious project designed to link EV charging stations from Pagudpud in the north to Pagadian in the south.
The company said it aims to show that consumers can drive their electric cars from Metro Manila to Baguio—without any worries, by using the EV charging stations of about 27 SM malls nationwide.
Aimed at providing an end-to-end low-carbon solution for EV drivers from a sustainable power source, the agreement has a primary objective of conducting a pilot study of EVCs supplied by RE such as solar.
