The first edition of ?PH Spark: An Innovative IT Roundtable? recently featured interesting discussions over the evolution and trends in IP-based communications in the Philippines.
The event, held at the Hexagon Lounge of the RCBC Plaza in Makati City, drew participants from the country?s booming BPO (business process outsourcing) industry. The forum was presented by Newsbytes.PH and InterAksyon.com, and backed by Wireless Services Asia (WSA).
Tech giant Oracle, which is more known for its database software, flew in top officials from its communications division to talk about the latest communication infrastructure which the local BPO space can take advantage of.
Daniel Ferguson, Oracle Communication sales director for South East Asia and Greater China, explored in his presentation the concept of a ?hyper-connected enterprise,? particularly the use of SIP trunking and unified communications among businesses.
Ferguson noted that while SIP trunking and unified communications has been around for quite sometime, he expects the technologies to attain mainstream adoption as businesses migrate from traditional PSTN circuits to an IP-based and integrated communication infrastructure.
The executive said SIP trunking is a transformative technology that allows a company to implement and manage end-to-end SIP networks, while controlling costs and exploiting next-generation IP communications.
Thanuvee Pattamasuriyakul, an Oracle executive based in Bangkok, gave an overview of the company?s IP Contact Center Solutions and Solutions. In his talk, he introduced an architectural approach to building a contact center IP communications network, highlighting distinct areas of business solutions, and how to manage the challenges that companies will face along the way.
Pattamasuriyakul said that an IP-based communications infrastructure enables business organization more accessible and solve business problems faster.
The Thai executive also dissected the role of Enterprise Session Border Controllers (E-SBC) in building IP-enabled communications. He said E-SBC protects and controls real-time voice, video, and Unified Communications (UC) as they traverse IP network boarders.
Meanwhile, Simon Wong, head of sales consulting for Japan and Asia Pacific at Oracle Communications, discussed delivering unified communication and collaboration as a service.
In his presentation, Wong said unified communications and collaboration as a cloud service offers an attractive value proposition to businesses as this model gives a leading yet proven solution.
In the question-and-answer portion that followed the presentations, the audience had the chance to ask the Oracle executives about their concerns on the implementation on an IP-based communications infrastructure in their respective organizations.
