PH tops multiple categories in new 5G global report

The latest 5G report from mobile metrics firm Opensignal, which highlights how 5G is accelerating improvements in the experience of mobile users worldwide, has shown the Philippines taking the top spot in multiple categories.

Key findings from the report include:

  • The Philippines saw the greatest improvement in download speeds worldwide with average 5G download speeds 9.8 times faster than 4G.
  • The Philippines also topped the global ranking for improvement in mobile video streaming: with a 5G Video Experience score that is 34% higher than using 4G.
  • The Philippines ranked among the world’s top 15 for 5G Reach: which measures the extent of the mobile experience in all the locations that matter most to everyday users — places where they live, work, and travel

South Korea again topped the world for average 5G download speeds with a score of 423.8 Mbps. Norway is now second (355.3 Mbps) and Taiwan (320 Mbps) drops to third since the last global 5G comparison Opensignal published two months ago. However, on 5G peak download speed, Taiwan retained its top position.
