The data revealed that the Philippines has slipped down the global leaderboard, falling four places to 75th overall, placing the country behind all other analyzed markets within the Asia-Pacific region, except for Laos, Myanmar and Papua New Guinea.
The latest report from mobile metrics firm Opensignal has shown DITO as the most awarded operator, winning 10 out of 14 awards outright and being a joint winner alongside Globe across a further two awards.
In the Philippines, Globe Telecom has made the most improvement in 5G Games Experience among Group I operators (those from markets with a land area of more than 200,000 square kilometers), Opensignal reported.
Despite Filipino users observing an increase of 5.9Mbps (37.7%) in their average overall download speeds, the Philippines has gone from third place to fourth, as it has been overtaken by Malaysia — which has achieved an impressive burst of speed.
The arrival of new entrant Dito, the introduction of 5G, pressure from the government to improve connectivity, and the Covid-19 pandemic have caused operators to redouble their efforts and up their investment in their networks, Opensignal said.
Opensignal’s latest analysis demonstrates that when there is poor connectivity users spend much less time in apps as they become dissatisfied with the experience and are less likely to retain apps on their device.
The report also said Globe users have the best experience when streaming video, playing multiplayer mobile games, and using voice apps — both overall and on 5G.
