The Federal Bureau of Investigation website is currently inaccessible to residents in the Philippines, a situation some netizens attribute to a geofencing block.
Attempting to visit the website using a Philippine ISP leads to a page titled:
“This site has determined a security issue with your request.”
The page then displays the message:
“We’re sorry…
The request has been blocked.”
A link to return to the home page appears below the message, but clicking it simply returns the user to the same notice.
Checking the browser console logs shows a “403 (Forbidden)” error for both the page and its browser icon file.
Users of PLDT, Smart mobile, Globe Fiber, Globe mobile, Converge ICT, Streamtech, and Starlink have reported being affected by the issue.
Using a VPN connected to some countries, such as the United States, allows access to the site. However, connecting through a VPN located in the Philippines and certain other countries results in the same blocked message.
A Reddit thread from November 2025 reports users in various parts of the world experiencing a similar issue, including a user from the Philippines attempting to view a wanted poster for alleged child- and sex-trafficking suspect Apollo Carreon Quiboloy.
There has been no statement yet from either the FBI or the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) explaining why users in the Philippines are unable to access the FBI website.
