Amazon Web Services (AWS) has expanded its artificial intelligence (AI) offerings, integrating OpenAI models into its cloud platform while introducing new tools aimed at enterprise productivity and customer service.
In a major shift, AWS said during its “What’s Next with AWS” event that the latest OpenAI models are now available through Amazon Bedrock, allowing customers to access “frontier intelligence” using existing AWS infrastructure, security controls, and governance systems.
The rollout also includes the OpenAI coding agent Codex and a new feature called Bedrock Managed Agents, which enables companies to build and deploy AI agents for complex workflows without managing backend infrastructure.
AWS said the integration is designed to give enterprises flexibility in choosing AI models while maintaining operational control.
The move follows the end of OpenAI’s exclusivity arrangement with Microsoft, allowing broader cloud partnerships.
Separately, AWS introduced a desktop AI assistant called “Quick,” positioned as a proactive workplace tool that can access files, emails, and business applications to automate tasks.
Unlike traditional chat-based assistants, the system runs continuously in the background, building context from user activity to suggest actions, generate documents, and streamline workflows.
AWS said the assistant can integrate with enterprise platforms such as Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Slack, and Salesforce, enabling it to “draft communications, create documents, and analyze data” based on real-time context.
The company also expanded its AI capabilities for business applications through updates to its customer engagement platform, including tools that combine generative AI and automation to improve service operations and workflow efficiency.
