Digital wallet GCash has featured lawyer Sheila Gomez in the sixth installment of its GCash Stories campaign, focusing on how she used the platform’s lending service to help finance her legal education.
Gomez worked full-time as a legal aide while attending law school. As tuition and daily expenses increased, she took out a GLoan to help manage her financial obligations and continue her studies.
“Perseverance doesn’t always mean going it alone,” Gomez said during the campaign’s premiere. “It’s about having the courage to seek the right support. When used responsibly, borrowing can be a powerful tool that gets you closer to your dreams.”
Gomez later passed the Bar examinations and now also uses other GCash credit products, including GCredit and GGives.
“Ako si Sheila, at ito ang aking GCash Story,” she said.
The campaign, titled “Kasama Mo Mangarap,” is part of GCash’s effort to present borrowing as a financial tool that may help users meet education and other expenses when used responsibly.
“Not every dream unfolds exactly as planned,” GCash chief marketing officer Neil Trinidad said. “At GCash, we believe our role goes far beyond providing financial tools — we want to empower Filipinos to keep moving forward.”
GCash said the campaign also seeks to draw attention to responsible lending amid inflation and the continued presence of predatory lenders.
Fuse Financing Inc., the lending arm of GCash, is marking its 10th anniversary this year. The company provides GLoan, GCredit and GGives through the GCash platform and said it is promoting transparent borrowing practices and more accessible credit for underserved consumers.
