Alorica to open first large-scale BPO site in Cagayan Valley

Business process outsourcing firm Alorica is set to open a facility in Tuguegarao City on Sept. 23, marking the entry of the first large-scale BPO employer in Region 2.

The site is expected to create jobs for residents of Tuguegarao and other parts of the Cagayan Valley, although the company and the city government did not disclose the number of positions that will initially be available.

Alorica executives Sarah Salva, director for facilities, and Malenn Khattab, director for client solutions, recently met with Tuguegarao mayor Maila Ting-Que to invite her to the facility’s opening.

They were joined by Magdalena Gomez, technical operations division chief, and Darlene Seguritan, project development officer II, of the Department of Information and Communications Technology’s ICT Industry Development Bureau.

Ting-Que said Alorica’s expansion into the city resulted from efforts by the local government and the DICT to attract investments and generate employment outside the country’s established BPO hubs.

“This is what we have been working for, more opportunities, more jobs, and more reasons for our people to stay and build their future here in our city,” Ting-Que said.

The mayor said the city government would continue pursuing businesses and industries that could provide additional employment to residents.

“More opportunities to come for Tuguegarao. One step at a time, but we keep moving forward,” she said.
