The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) and the Home Development Mutual Fund (Pag-IBIG Fund) have formalized a partnership to integrate National ID authentication services into the agency’s Virtual Pag-IBIG portal.
The agreement, sealed at a ceremonial signing at the PSA headquarters, will allow Pag-IBIG Fund to use the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) as a trusted tool for verifying member identities in online services such as loan applications and membership registration.
Officials said the move is expected to remove redundant verification steps and safeguard accounts against unauthorized access.
PSA undersecretary Dennis S. Mapa said the initiative supports the government’s broader digital transformation agenda.
“With the integration of National ID authentication services into Virtual Pag-IBIG, we take a bold step toward modernizing government digital infrastructure,” Mapa said.
PSA assistant secretary Rosalinda P. Bautista emphasized that the National ID provides a reliable proof of identity that can reduce errors and delays.
“Filipinos can be confident that their records are secure, accurate, and recognized,” she said.
Pag-IBIG Fund chief executive officer Marilene C. Acosta described the partnership as a “significant step toward delivering a truly digital, seamless, and people-centered public service.”
She added that the integration aligns with the government’s directive for agencies to adopt the PhilSys in their processes.
The collaboration places Pag-IBIG Fund among several government institutions already using National ID authentication.
The Small Business Corporation applies it to verify micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) loan applications, while local governments in Benguet and Southern Leyte use it to streamline civil registry requests.
Pasig City has also incorporated the system into its PasigPass platform to enhance security and protect against identity fraud.
Officials said these initiatives highlight the growing role of the National ID as a cornerstone of the country’s digital governance framework.
