DIGITAL INFLUENCER | Trust, tech, and transformation: Dominguez Marketing at 30

What does it take for a communications agency to remain relevant for 30 years?

As the communication space is affected by algorithms, user-generated content overload, and emerging AI platforms, the answer is more than just adapting quickly. It is about building trust, staying curious, and knowing when to evolve.

This year, Dominguez Marketing Communications Inc. celebrates its 30th anniversary. Founded by Imelda “Mel” Dominguez in 1995, the agency has grown from a one-woman operation to a full-fledged PR firm representing local and global brands.

Its strength has always been in its consistency. It has remained true to relationship-building, clear messaging, and impactful event execution while adapting to the times.

In early 2004, in a casual catch-up with Mel after a PR event, I became an instant consultant as I helped Dominguez Marketing develop its early website and set up its Google Ads campaigns.

At a time when digital marketing was still a growing curiosity, the results were surprisingly effective. The agency was able to attract quality inquiries and improve applicant screening.

That early project offered a glimpse of how digital tools could quietly enhance even the most traditional communications efforts.

Years later, I was tapped again, this time to share updates with the team about digital marketing strategies and tools. These sessions from skills refreshers became part of a larger shift.

The agency understood that to future-proof its relevance, it had to invest in digital capability across the organization.

In 2024, the vision came full circle with the early formation of Dominguez Digital Marketing. It was about completing the trifecta. PR builds credibility. Events create direct engagement. Digital delivers reach, speed, and measurable impact. Together, they offer a more cohesive solution for modern clients.

From website development to content creation, search engine visibility, analytics, and capability building, Dominguez Digital complements what Dominguez Marketing has always done well. It helps brands show up and stay consistent across all the platforms their audience uses.

The lines between media, marketing, and communication have blurred. What used to be a linear PR campaign is now a multi-channel strategy.

Audiences search before they buy. They share before they trust. They evaluate brands not only based on what they say in press releases, but also on what appears in search results, AI summaries, email newsletters, and social feeds.

While tools will continue to change, the value of clarity, consistency, and credibility will not. Those are the foundations that Dominguez Marketing was built on, and they are the same principles that will carry both the traditional and digital efforts into the future.

As Dominguez Marketing celebrates its three decades of service, it is a thoughtful look forward. One that embraces change without losing its core. And one that proves that evolving does not mean letting go of your identity. Sometimes, it means completing it.
