The Mapúa Education Group has broadened its academic partnership with Arizona State University (ASU), extending the collaboration beyond its initial focus on business and health sciences to now include all undergraduate and graduate programs across its network of schools.
The expanded arrangement will cover Mapúa University, Mapúa Malayan College Laguna, Mapúa Malayan College Mindanao, and Mapúa Malayan Digital College, enabling students in these institutions to access a wider range of international academic resources and collaborative opportunities.
School officials said the initiative is designed to enhance access to global learning materials, broaden academic offerings, and provide pathways to international credentials through the ASU-Cintana Alliance — a network of 35 universities worldwide.
ASU has been ranked No. 1 in the United States for innovation and is among the world’s top institutions for research impact, while Mapúa University is known locally for its strength in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education and is placed within the top 6% of universities globally, according to Times Higher Education rankings.
Under the expanded partnership, students will have access to structured learning pathways such as dual-degree options and accelerated master’s programs, along with opportunities for international exposure delivered through onsite and online formats.
The collaboration also seeks to integrate artificial intelligence concepts into the curriculum, leveraging ASU frameworks to support digital learning and innovation.
Faculty and student exchanges are also planned to improve teaching quality and strengthen research capabilities, while joint research initiatives within the alliance are expected to generate industry-relevant innovation and contribute to national development.
The partnership will likewise introduce hybrid and fully online degree pathways, including programs tailored for working professionals and lifelong learners.
A proposed Green College, aligned with ASU’s School of Sustainability, aims to engage students in addressing sustainability and technology challenges.
Dr. Dodjie Maestrecampo, president of Mapúa University, underscored the initiative’s broader goal, saying: “This collaboration reflects our commitment to elevating Philippine education through globally benchmarked standards. By integrating global expertise and future-focused curricula, we are preparing Filipino learners to compete and lead on the world stage.”
