Grab Philippines has signed separate partnerships with ACMobility and EVOxCharge to expand charging access for electric taxi and transport network vehicle service (TNVS) drivers on its platform, while offering discounted charging rates.
Under the agreements, operators and driver-partners of GrabTaxi Electric and GrabCar Electric will gain access to a combined network of more than 600 chargers at preferential rates.
Grab said the arrangement could reduce charging costs by as much as 45%, addressing two of the main barriers to electric vehicle (EV) adoption: the availability of charging stations and the cost of charging.
Grab said the lower charging rates could further improve the economics of operating EVs on its platform. It cited on-the-ground reports from EV drivers and operators indicating that EVs can cost about 75% to 87% less per kilometer to run than comparable internal combustion vehicles.
“Sustainability can no longer be treated as just a green movement. For us, it has become a kabuhayan commitment,” said CJ Lacsican, country head of Grab Financial Group Philippines.
“Through these partnerships, we are building the support system needed for more drivers to confidently consider electrification — not only as a cleaner transport choice, but as a livelihood resilience strategy amid the volatile fuel market. Ultimately, the goal is shared by the entire sector: to protect the livelihood of our transport professionals, while also protecting the everyday movement of the communities they serve.”
Through its partnership with ACMobility, Grab drivers and operators will be able to use ChargeFleet, a digital fleet management platform designed to help monitor and manage EV charging credits.
Grab said the system can also help streamline shift changes between drivers and reduce administrative work for operators.
ChargeFleet is integrated into the Evro app, which ACMobility said gives users access to more than 500 EV charge points nationwide. These are located in sites such as fuel stations, malls, hotels, retail shops, office buildings, and residential developments. The app also shows Department of Energy-accredited charge points.
EVOxCharge, meanwhile, operates more than 130 charge points, including its charging hub at TDG InHub in Taguig and locations in SM and S&R sites.
The company also offers xCharge+, a fleet charging platform that it said can help operators manage day-to-day charging and driver operations.
To qualify for the discounted charging rates, GrabTaxi Electric and GrabCar Electric operators and driver-partners must register with Grab using the email address linked to their Evro or xCharge+ account so they can be included in the program.
