Garmin has launched two new running-focused smartwatches in the Philippines and introduced its Garmin Pay contactless payment service in the local market.
The new Forerunner 70 and Forerunner 170 feature Amoled displays, built-in GPS tracking, wrist-based heart rate monitoring, and support for multiple sports and fitness activities.
Both devices are designed primarily for runners but also include tools for tracking cycling, strength training, and other workouts.
Garmin said the watches are integrated with its training platform, which includes Garmin Coach adaptive training plans and daily workout recommendations based on performance, recovery, and training load.
Health monitoring features such as sleep tracking and heart rate variability (HRV) status are also included.
The higher-end Forerunner 170 adds support for Garmin Pay, allowing users to make contactless payments using the smartwatch.
Alongside the device launch, Garmin announced the availability of Garmin Pay in the Philippines through partnerships with GoTyme Bank and EastWest Bank, with support from Visa and Mastercard.
The service enables users to make payments at compatible contactless payment terminals without using a physical card or mobile phone.

“With the launch of the Forerunner 70 and Forerunner 170, we continue to strengthen how Garmin supports a more active and connected lifestyle,” said Sky Chen, regional director for Southeast Asia at Garmin.
“By integrating our wearables, Garmin Pay, and the Garmin Run Marathon Series, we provide an ecosystem that enhances performance, supports convenience, and contributes to building a stronger running community,”.
Garmin said the Forerunner 70 is priced at P15,990, while the Forerunner 170 retails for P19,290. The Forerunner 170 Music variant is priced at P22,290.
