Converge ICT Solutions Inc. said it blocked nearly 12 billion attempts to access websites carrying dangerous, inappropriate, and harmful content in 2025 as the broadband provider stepped up measures aimed at protecting children and other users online.
The company said it also blacklisted more than 72,000 domains and Web addresses linked to prohibited content during the year.
“We have always taken a hardline position against dangerous and illicit content that harms the most vulnerable in our society, especially our children,” Converge CEO Dennis Anthony Uy said.
Uy said Converge continues to invest in network security and defense tools designed to prevent access to harmful content and protect customers from cyber threats.
The company said it coordinates with government agencies including the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), National Telecommunications Commission (NTC), Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC), and Philippine National Police (PNP).
Converge also works with international organizations such as the Internet Watch Foundation in efforts to curb illicit online activities, including content depicting extreme violence.
Uy said the company follows due process when blocking harmful websites in accordance with its Human Rights Policy. Converge did not provide details on the specific procedures it follows or the legal and regulatory grounds used to determine which sites are blocked.
The issue of Internet service providers blocking online content has drawn increased attention as telecommunications companies and government agencies grapple with how to restrict harmful material while addressing questions over due process and the legal authority for blocking websites.
Converge said it also maintains a Child Online Safeguarding Policy covering measures intended to reduce children’s exposure to cyber threats, online exploitation, and violence.
Uy said the company would continue coordinating with government agencies and other industry players on online safety initiatives.
