Samsung has introduced three new foldable smartphones — the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8, and Galaxy Z Flip8 — with upgraded processors, cameras, batteries, and AI-assisted features.
Leading the lineup is the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, which runs on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy processor and carries a 5,000mAh battery.
The device has a 7.6-inch main display with a 4:3 aspect ratio and peak brightness of 3,000 nits. Samsung also used a thinner display stack and titanium frame to reduce its bulk while maintaining structural rigidity.
For photography, the Fold8 Ultra is equipped with a 200-megapixel main camera, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and a 10-megapixel telephoto camera. Its AI-powered Photo Assist feature can automatically edit and enhance images.
The standard Galaxy Z Fold8 offers similar core features in a more compact form. It has a 6.2-inch cover screen and supports 4:3 viewing in landscape mode and 3:4 viewing in portrait mode.
Its cover display can handle notifications, social media, and other quick tasks without requiring users to open the phone.
The Fold8 uses the same Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy processor as the Ultra model but has a smaller 4,800mAh battery. Its camera system also matches the Fold8 Ultra, including the 200-megapixel main sensor.
Samsung included content-creation tools such as My FanCam, which is intended for recording and editing videos for platforms such as TikTok and Instagram.
The Galaxy Z Flip8, meanwhile, adopts a clamshell design and measures 6.1 millimeters thick when unfolded. It weighs 180 grams, making it the lightest of the three new models.
The Flip8 runs on Samsung’s Exynos 2600 processor and has a 4,300mAh battery. Its body uses an Armor Aluminum frame for added durability.
Its FlexWindow provides access to apps, notifications, and AI features while the phone is folded. The hinge also allows the device to remain open at different angles for hands-free video calls, photography, and media viewing.
The Flip8’s folding design also allows users to take selfies and photos from angles that may be difficult to achieve with conventional smartphones.
