Digital wallet operator Coins.ph has introduced a new tokenized payments feature called “Link & Pay,” aimed at simplifying online transactions while maintaining security controls.
The company said the feature allows users to link their Coins account to participating merchants, enabling faster checkouts without repeated logins or password inputs. Instead of sharing sensitive account details, the system generates a unique token that authorizes specific transactions.
“Instead of giving a merchant your actual login credentials or sensitive account details, Coins.ph generates a unique, secure ‘token’ through this new feature,” the company explained.
Once linked, users can complete payments with fewer steps, particularly for small purchases and recurring transactions. Coins.ph said the feature is designed to reduce friction in digital payments, especially for frequent transactions such as subscriptions and online purchases.
To limit risks, the platform imposes safeguards on password-free transactions. These include a cap of ₱1,000 per transaction, a daily limit of ₱5,000, and a maximum of five transactions per day. Payments exceeding these thresholds will require additional verification.
The feature also supports recurring payments and direct debit arrangements, allowing merchants to automatically collect authorized payments from users’ wallet balances.
